From Loving One to One Love (part 4) – a conversation with Dr. Bob Rosenthal and Bruce Rawles

From Loving One to One Love - by Robert Rosenthal MD

Dr. Robert Rosenthal
In this video, “Dr. Bob” a.k.a. Robert Rosenthal, M.D. – author of “From Never-Mind to Ever-Mind and Bruce Rawles talk about the concluding portions of Bob’s latest book: “From Loving One to One Love: Transforming Relationships Through A Course In Miracles.” This book explores relationships, certainly one of the most important ideas in ACIM with its practical classroom of applied forgiveness. In this conversation, Bob emphasizes the ultimate culmination of our forgiveness classroom of the myriad relationships we all have with everyone and everything which heals our belief in separation. Chapter 16, Intimacy: The Forgiveness Challenge, reviews the resistance and inertia we all face sharing the contents of our mind with our Inner Kindness Teacher in order to remove the blocks keeping us from relating wholly without condemnation. When the barries are removed, it enables us to be truly caring and compassionate with everyone we meet and with the heart of Life itself, which is the focus of the last section, “One Love.”

Here are some helpful quotes from the last chapters of Bob’s new book:

“It is not necessary to understand the reasons behind a particular behavior in order to forgive it.”

“If we set out to repair the fractured Son of God one relationship at a time, it doesn’t take much imagination to realize that, even if everyone plays their part perfectly, the repair will take a very long time to reach completion. That would indeed be true if people really were separate and time progressed in a linear fashion, minute by minute, day after day, year upon year. However, that is not the Course’s view of time. It looks on time from the perspective of eternity, where all of time has already been and gone. In truth, it never happened at all. It’s part of the ego’s illusion: its big con game. And so there is another way of understanding bottom-up forgiveness that lifts it beyond specifics and frees it from the chains of time.

Within the dream of separation, we appear to be distinct and unique, but in truth, we remain exactly as God created us: not separate, but joined; not bodies, but spirit. Because we were created as one, that oneness remains alive within each of us, even though we’re no longer aware of it. Although people appear to be separate and specific, they are also simultaneously that oneness. ‘One brother is all brothers. Every mind contains all minds, for every mind is one.’ The part contains the whole. In fact, the part is the whole, because in Oneness there can be no parts. Therefore, heal any of the parts and you are healing the whole. Healing is not selective; it is holographic.

Forgive one specific individual, and your forgiveness must extend to all others because they are one with you.”
