The thinking is the cause, the seeming doing is the effect. What he’s saying is this course must deal with the level of thoughts, because that is where the correction can be applied. If you try to apply the correction in the form without getting back to the mind, you’re into morality and ethics. And you’re going to see there’s going to be a lot of offense when you point the finger at somebody and say, “Stop doing that. That action is wrong.” That’s the problem with taking the ten commandments, “Thou shalt not kill,” and pointing the finger at your fellow brothers and sisters. When actually Jesus was teaching us not to judge. He goes even further in the section on “The Correction of Error” in the Text where he says, “Your brother may even be speaking insanely, or acting insanely. He is still right.” He is still right because he is the Christ. The Christ is our factual identity that is created by God. That is unalterable. And no behavior, positive or negative, can take away what God created. What God created is simply what is. And any sense of judgment, to judge a brother or sister positively or negatively and miss their innocence, is a misperception.
