When we focus our attention on this single purpose, anything is possible. The Course teaches that in this illusion of time and space, there is only one tool that will lead us to salvation, and that is forgiveness. This in turn leads to the Holy Instant. "Ultimately you can say that the plan of awakening is the Holy Instant. The plan is now. For some they can say, “plan is not really a now word,” humans do not use the word plan with now. We associate future with plan. It would not be an appropriate word and yet forgiveness is a now plan. And so maybe that whole word ‘plan’ is mixing us up, and this gets at the time question a little bit too. I think you could start to say is that the plan is actually a purpose, and that purpose can only fully be accepted now. You can’t accept that purpose in the past or the future. It’s interesting to read some of the statements from Jesus, “At no single instant does the body exist at all, it is always remembered or anticipated.” That’s fascinating. It’s pointing us to the now, and it’s pointing us to a new purpose. Because I know even in other books like the Urantia book, where they pose the question to Jesus, “how could you be really happy in this realm, in the realm of time and space or this planet? How could you be happy?” Basically the answer is only through a constant or single purpose. If you have a single purpose in your mind you can have a happy, joyful, unified experience of time and space. It’s all in the purpose. You notice its not in the form, the ego tries to convince us we will be happy when we have a better form, when we have more money in the bank, when we have a partner or a different partner or some kind of spiritual achievement, or the world starts looking like those old Coke commercials where everyone is just holding hands and swaying. But as long as we are perceiving earth on the time line in linear ways we are missing the point of this purpose."
